We are delighted to welcome Jacob Pritchard as our first speaker of the year. Jacob is a talented musician and a budding lawyer passionate about international affairs. He will share his exciting journey from Manawatū to New York, where he will intern at the New Zealand Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
Jacob's connection with Rotary goes back to 2015, when he was selected as a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Brazil. He spent a year immersed in Brazilian culture and language and proudly represented our district 9940. He then returned to New Zealand and pursued an honours degree in music at Victoria University of Wellington, where he honed his skills as a composer and performer.
Milson Rotary Club is proud to support Jacob financially in pursuing this endeavour. We believe he is a remarkable young man who embodies the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self.
While working as a musician, Jacob also challenged himself by studying law at Victoria University of Wellington. He graduated with a law degree in October 2023, with a focus on international law. He was fascinated by the complex and dynamic issues affecting the global community and wanted to contribute positively to the world.
Jacob was offered a rare and prestigious opportunity to intern at the New Zealand Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from March to July 2024. He will work alongside diplomats and officials representing our country's interests and values on the world stage. He will also have the chance to witness the inner workings of the UN and its various organs and agencies.
Milson Rotary Club is proud to support Jacob financially in pursuing this endeavour. We believe he is a remarkable young man who embodies the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self. "He will speak to us on February 12th about his internship, and we hope that you will join us for this inspiring and informative session.
