Mike Clark presented an inspirational and motivational talk to our club. He spoke about his personal journey leaving Zimbabwe and coming to live in NZ – talking about the huge contrast in personal freedoms and safety between the two countries. He challenged us to think about how we could help keep NZ unique. He noted that Rotary and other clubs like us are doing great things and making a real difference. However, people don’t always know what we do.
He used the acronym ‘SHARE’ to bring this point across
Mike emphasised that as a club and individual members, we must be proud of what we do and tell people what we are doing and have done.
Mike used the acronym ‘SHARE’ to bring this point across
- S: share our stories. Show how people have been impacted by Rotary, which will help Inspire people to join
- H: Help people – invite friends and colleagues along to help with our projects
- A: Advertise – spread the word and do it regularly
- R: Reinforce and Restate our achievements
- E: Encourage each other and use what we do to encourage and inspire others
Our club is already working a lot harder to get our message out with regular articles in the Guardian and our Facebook (Facebook )
