The annual (and let's be honest, sometimes "when-we-can-be-bothered" biannual) golf showdown between the titans of the turf, Milson Rotary Club and Rotorua West Rotary Club, finally happened this Monday at the majestic Manawatu course!
In a surprising turn of events, the good folk from Rotorua actually showed their faces this year! They remembered not only that this is a prestigious inter-club tournament, but also that it is the most important sporting event of the year: the brutal, pride-fueled battle between the two Christie Brothers on opposing teams. May the best sibling (and biggest trash-talker) win!
The Unstoppable Milson Machine
As is tradition (and perhaps destiny), Milson Rotary prevailed and swaggered away with the highly coveted trophy. Whispers around the 19th hole suggest that the legendary Peter Brooks played such a colossal role in this victory.
So, Rotorua, start practising your excuses now. The gauntlet has been thrown for next year's tournament, which will take place on your home turf. Milson Members: It's time to stop just "having a good walk" and start working on those handicaps. We need to be ready to crush them on their own patch!
