We are officially setting the DeLorean to 88mph and going Back to the Future regarding how we handle meeting invites.

There is a grand psychological theory floating around the club, a hypothesis, if you will, that suggests if we force you to physically click "Decline," a wave of guilt, embarrassment, or perhaps crippling FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) will wash over you. The hope is that this emotional cocktail will cause you to reconsider and grace us with your presence for a few delightful hours.

Personally? I respectfully disagree with that theory. I suspect the culprit is simply the irresistible force of “I can’t be bothered.” Prove me wrong!

Regardless of the psychology, here is the new reality for our timeline, effective from the first meeting of next year:

The invitation link will take you back to a simpler time when you had to make a binary choice. Accept or Decline.

THE CATCH (Please Read Carefully):
If you succumb to the "can't be bothered" inertia and do absolutely nothing, that is, you neither Accept nor Decline, we will not assume you are busy. We will assume you are hungry.

As the old saying goes, "To assume makes an ass out of u and me." However, in this specific instance, assuming means we will mark you as attending, and you will be invoiced for the meal.

TO BE CRYSTAL CLEAR: NO RESPONSE = YOU ARE EATING (AND PAYING).

Derek’s decision is final. Once the invoice is generated, no correspondence will be entered into. You may try to argue with Derek, but we advise against it; Xero has no mercy.

So, please, exercise your free will and click the button. We’d love to see you, but we’d hate to invoice you for a ghost meal.
