Mike Gattche (owner of GatchWorks construction) and Nick Field (owner of NickField Construction). These two close friends, who have shared the tragedy of both losing a brother, spoke to our club.
Mike shared his heartfelt story at our Rotary Club dinner. He recounted the sudden loss of his brother Sam to melanoma two years ago, which deeply impacted his life.
In Sam's memory, Mike organised a fundraiser that raised $42,000 for melanoma research and provided free skin checks, leading to further treatments for three individuals.
This year, Mike and his team are organising another fundraiser on October 17th for Ronald McDonald House, a charity that supported his family during a difficult time. The event will feature a $10,000 raffle prize, live entertainment, and an auction, with a goal of raising $30,000.
Mike and Nick are seeking sponsorships and donations to help achieve this goal.
Mike emphasised the importance of community support and shared how many people have personal stories that connect them to these causes. Mike expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to speak and invited everyone to join the cause or attend the event.
