3 Minute spot

Derek, our treasurer, presented to our club meeting the upcoming budget and membership dues. Members were reminded that most costs are dictated by external factors, such as international dues, the Rotary magazine, and district fees, leaving only club operational expenses under local control.

A key issue discussed was the requirement to meet a minimum of 25 meals per meeting. If fewer than 25 members attend, the club must cover the shortfall. To ensure fairness, the board suggested covering this cost through membership dues rather than placing the burden on those who attend.

To keep membership fees the same as last year, the board has suggested reducing donations to the project's fund. Additionally, they are considering deregistering for GST, which could save approximately $20 per member. Any savings could be redirected back into the project fund.

A motion was passed to set membership dues at $360 annually, with the possibility of adjusting how GST is handled moving forward.

The meeting concluded efficiently, wrapping up in under three minutes.
