The Bulletin 17th August 2026

Good morning everyone,

Club night at Hilltop

The adventure continues! We had a great night at Hilltop last night. While it was a little cosy, there was a wonderfully positive, relaxed feeling throughout the membership. Many people have told me how much they enjoy the flexibility of our current arrangements, including the option to have dinner or not, which makes managing commitments much easier.

Guest speakers

We were fortunate to hear from His Worship the Mayor, Grant Smith, Steve Maharey, Chair of Central Waters, and Chris Dhyrberg, Chief Executive of Central Waters. Their presentation was very informative, and they generously covered a wide range of questions from members.

Welcome to Elizabeth Hayman

It was lovely to see our newest member, Elizabeth Hayman, inducted into Milson Rotary by Glen last night. Elizabeth is warm, friendly, and full of energy, and I am sure she will both gain a great deal from the club and contribute much to it.

Upcoming visit: TRYP by Wyndham Hotel

Mark has kindly organised another offsite visit for us, this time to the new TRYP by Wyndham Hotel on Monday, 31 August at 5.30 pm. Please arrive promptly to help avoid confusion and ensure no one goes missing in action. Dinner arrangements will remain flexible; we can simply decide on the night, so there is no pressure on anyone. Partners and friends are very welcome. Please respond through Club Runner in the usual way.

Back to the Boatshed

On Monday, 7 September 2026, we will be back at the Boatshed, with MASH Trust joining us as presenters. The repairs are now completed, and we will return to our usual arrangements — adventure over!

Fireside gatherings

A few fireside gatherings are planned over the next week or two. Please check in with your directors so you do not miss out.

Have a great fortnight; I look forward to seeing you at our community working bees, thanks to Anthony’s great and tireless organising.

Kind regards,

Barb

Coming up: a look inside the new Tryp hotel

Here is something a little different for the club calendar. On Monday 31 August, Milson Rotary members have the chance to tour the new Tryp, pronounced “Trip”, one of the newest additions to Palmerston North’s accommodation scene. It is a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes and see what has gone into getting the doors open. We meet at the hotel at 5:30 pm. Come along, bring your curiosity, and enjoy an evening out from the usual meeting room.

NOTE: No meal will be provided at this event
